If you are in Exmouth and you need a Free Broadband Wireless Internet Connection to your laptop, palmtop or home PC this is the place to look. You will need a PC and a 802.11b wireless adaptor. You will probably also need some form of antenna unless you are very near to one of our nodes. If you want to use our internet connection you do not need to ask us first, (indeed if you ask us you will be refused permission) , you will not be asked for any payment or identification in most cases as soon as you have installed the wireless card in your computer it will connect automatically when you are in range of our wireless node. The technical innovation of 802.11b Licence Exempt Wireless Local Access Network (WLANs) make it possible to develop something entirely new in Exmouth EWLAN operates on WIFI channel 7 with an SSID of EWLAN Our router will automatically allocate you an ip address and connect you to the EWLAN network and give access to the internet.. We have a EWLAN workgroup already active on our network but you can create and use whatever workgroup name you choose, we regularly see the usual “workgroup” and “mshome” groups and many others. BE SURE YOU REALLY INTEND TO ALLOW OTHERS ACCESS TO YOUR FILES OVER A WIFI NETWORK. |

This provision of free, high speed access to a network can encourage participation in modern neighborhood community development with the provision of a local intranet. If you are able to help by installing an AP (wireless access point) with internet access at your home/work then you will be helping everyone in the area as well as getting you in contact with local users ....if you cant and just want access to our network or the internet that's fine as well That's what community WLAN is all about, "helping each other" This initiative in setting up EWLAN is being taken up locally by a small number of Computer Enthusiasts and Radio Amateurs who have been involved for some time in an amateur radio network but now the opportunity for everyone to use WLAN's has been provided by the easy availability of wireless cards for PCs We will be pleased to help anyone with free advice on setting up and use of the wireless cards. aerial siting and radio matters and we may be able to arrange supply and installation of systems for you ..please e-mail us...
